A Resounding Success: BSC Hosts the 2025-2026 Joint-School HKDSE Speaking Practice
On February 27, 2026, the halls of Buddhist Sum Heung Lam Memorial College (BSC) were buzzing with focused energy as we proudly hosted the 2025-2026 Joint-School HKDSE Speaking Practice.
With the HKDSE English Language Paper 4 (Speaking) examination commencing on March 10, this event was designed to provide our Form 6 students with a crucial “final rehearsal” in a highly authentic and rigorous setting.
As the host school, BSC was honoured to welcome almost 100 participants, bringing together students and dedicated teaching staff from our esteemed partner schools:
- Buddhist Mau Fung Memorial College
- Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwok Yat Wai College
- Yan Oi Tong Chan Wong Suk Fong Memorial Secondary School
Embracing the “Stranger Factor”
One of the biggest hurdles in the actual DSE speaking exam is the psychological pressure of interacting with unfamiliar faces. By organizing this joint-school initiative, BSHLMC provided a platform for students to step out of their comfort zones. Students were mixed into inter-school groups, allowing them to practice active listening, idea expansion, and group facilitation with peers they had never met before.
The immediate, personalized feedback from a diverse panel of visiting English teachers was invaluable in helping candidates refine their strategies just weeks before the public exam.
Encouraging Figures: A Fruitful Afternoon
The feedback collected from both students and teachers highlights the overwhelming success of the event. Our post-event evaluation revealed highly encouraging figures:
- 📈 91% of Students agreed that the practice directly enhanced their English speaking skills.
- 💪 Over 82% of Students reported a significant boost in their confidence to speak in English.
- 👨🏫 100% of Teachers observed a visible enhancement in student skills during the practice rounds.
- 🤝 100% Unanimous Agreement from visiting educators that this highly effective joint-school event should become a recurring tradition.
The smooth flow, organized rundown, and the warm hospitality provided by the BSC staff were also highly praised by all visiting participants.
Marching to March 10: the commencement date of HKDSE English Language Paper 4 Speaking
Vice Principal Kitty Lai officially opened the event with words of encouragement, reminding students to transform their nervous energy into competence and to view their upcoming exams with mindfulness and confidence.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the English Departments of all participating schools. Your collaboration and dedication have given our F.6 cohort a distinct competitive edge.
To all Form 6 students: You have put in the hard work, you have sharpened your skills, and you are ready. We wish you the absolute best of luck in your upcoming HKDSE examinations!

在真實的 DSE 會話考試中，最大的障礙之一是面對陌生人互動時所產生的心理壓力。透過籌辦此次聯校活動，佛教沈香林紀念中學為學生提供了一個跨出舒適圈的平台。學生們被混合編入跨校小組，讓他們能與素未謀面的同儕練習積極聆聽、擴展觀點及帶動小組討論。
來自不同學校的英文科老師組成了多元化的評審團，提供即時、個人化的回饋。在公開試前的最後幾週，這些建議對於幫助考生完善應試策略具有極高價值。
令人鼓舞的數據：成果豐碩的下午
從學生及老師收集到的意見反映了本次活動取得了空前成功。我們的活動後問卷調查顯示了極為令人鼓舞的數據：
- 📈 91% 的學生 同意此次練習直接提升了他們的英語口語技巧。
- 💪 超過 82% 的學生 表示他們開口說英語的自信心有了顯著提升。
- 👨🏫 100% 的老師 觀察到學生在練習環節中的說話技巧有明顯進步。
